The 14^th Rio Gay Pride Parade date has been finally set for 1st November, 2009. Copacabana beach front is the chosen location as usual.

Rio gay pride parade date tends to vary a lot from year to year for varied reasons. It seems that if there's any large event deemed higher on the social calendar, the gay pride parade gets sidelined and the dates changed. Authorities claim there's not enough police resources to provide safety for the crowds in such cases.

However, this year it also emerged that a second outbreak of swine flu could arise on the second half of September lingering on until the first week of October.
